Stoney Vineyard
Pinot noir 2024
Light ruby in the glass, this is a gentle wine that is surprisingly developed. Cherries, warming spices, cranberry and raspberry are layered with black pepper, aniseed, fresh thyme and a flicker of smoke. The palate is soft, silky and supple, opening with a little sweetness before tightening into vibrant acidity and fine, velvety tannin—red cherry, dried currants and a hint of mushroom and forest floor. It has pleasing warmth and length, with a finish that is long, savoury and quietly complex. A really fine, young Pinot that overdelivers for its youth.

Winemaker Notes
This is the third release of the reimagined Stoney Vineyard Pinot noir. Historically, Stoney Vineyard Pinot noir was purchased fruit. With the change in ownership of Domaine A and Stoney Vineyard we decided to pause the release of this wine until we were in a position to be able to grow the fruit for the wine ourselves. By planting our own fruit we have worked towards bringing to bottle a Pinot noir that shows depth and concentration but retains enough fruit and acidity to counterbalance that weight that is typical of Domaine A Pinot noir. Less extraction and more vitality. In 2019 we extended Stoney Vineyard by planting a further 2.5Ha of Pinot noir using the Dijon clones 114 and 115. This was to try to provide clonal material that would provide more upfront fruit and retain freshness and acidity on what is a known dry site that typically produces quite dense and extracted Pinot noir.
