Lady A is for lovers

Lady A

Lady A 2017

The story

Peter and Ruth Althaus started making wine in the Coal Valley in 1989. Ruth loved French-style sauvignon blanc. In fact it was her all time favourite wine. Unfortunately the accepted wisdom was that it wouldn’t grow well at Domaine A. Peter, being both stubborn and in love, decided to make one anyway. He grew it in secret for a decade, aged it in French oak and then ten years later presented it to Ruth along with the words “I told you so”.

If it’s not the most romantic wine Tasmania has ever produced, it has to be close.

‘Think a classic Bordeaux Blanc. Fermented in 100% new French oak barriques, matured on lees for 12 months and then rested in the cellar until deemed ready for release. Something special.’
